Bought a new to me 2007 Apex ER back in October.....first sled I ever bought. Last 2 times I've had it out riding in Tug Hill it makes this god-awful high pitched screeching sound when I hit the gas in reverse. Sled will move a little but the noise just sounds awful and I"m afraid I'm doing damage by using it. No issues whatsoever going forward.....as a matter of fact the thing is unbelievably fast. Previous owner told me the belt was put on new right before I bought it and the first time I had it out there was no issues. Any ideas what's causing the noise? By the way, it has 4200 miles on it.

The linkage needs to be move, I think it needs to be at 32mm if I remember right. If you keeo using it like this you will hurt the gears.

As a somewhat new Apex owner as well, take some time to open the panel and observe how the reverse actually works too.
Most new owners probably don't get the idea that it doesn't go into reverse until you actually make the "J" motion with the handle. Many think that if it is grinding, I will just hold the handle out.
It doesn't engage until you pull the handle out and push it to the side and forward "J"
It could still use some adjustment. My '07 did as well and it was easy to do.
Good luck!

Reverse needs adjusting. Here is the procedure. If you look in the FAQ you will find a downloadable manual for that sled.
