well i havent run my sled in about 2 weeks. went to start it up and it started. wasnt running on all cylinders, waited for the light to go off.
started to try and clean it up. it was blowing black smoke and smell of gas. backfiring and blowing some periodtic falmes out of the exhaust? any ideas?

I dont know the answer to your question, but if the plugs are fouled I would change them. Otherwise you are just setting yourself up for trouble. You will be in the middle of nowhere, turnoff you sled, try to start it back up and foul the plugs again, and perhaps be stranded.

I noticed on my sled, when I turn the heat on in my garage and start my sled, it runs crazy, very rich. I don't know if its the difference between air temp and temp of the motor. I seems like the fuel injection is controlling the mixture for the motor temp and not the intake air temp. If I have heat on for an hour or so it seems to run smoother. I guess the sled temp and the air temp are closer after an hour or so.

Take them OUT... They willnever be the same ....

I just had something similiar happen to me today. I had my kerosene torpedo heater running a few hours in the garage. I came in to make some suspension adjustments and checks and left the heater running.
I shut the heater down and I then fired up the sled and it was running like crap. I was planning on opening the garage door so I wouldn't die and as the garage door opened almost instantaneously the sled started to smooth out as the fresh cool air enter the garage.

plugs

I fouled mine about 6 weeks ago when I tried to start my sled with a wire not connected. Well the plugs were dripping gas. I removed them, cleaned them with my bench grinder after heating with torch and reinstalled them. It's been 700 miles and still perfect. I would clean them and put them back in. It works fine and have done this several times with other plugs. Unless you have new ones as I live 70 miles from plugs or order them on line. JMO
