I have peices coming out from the left exhaust side only.
I have checked the airbox, it's alright. I had 2 other nests in it. One in the nose, already replaced that foam. Another in front of the oil resevoir. Just took all that foam off. I'm not going to replace that one. I've never had this problem before since I got back into snowmobiling in 1993. I will be using moth balls and steel wool from now on.

That's funny, because this was the first year I ever stored a Yamaha. Switched from Arctic Cat last year. The mice never bothered the Cats

I personally knew a guy that used a vacuum on a gas tank, and the vacuum blew up. I have also heard of others that did the same.
Since it's amost impossible, try it, eric.

sounds like a good time to gut the exhaust to make it sound better,a coat hanger in the tip will do nothing but hit the opposite side of the can when i goes thru the "glasspack" insert that is sitting just inside the elbow from the tip,i'd yank it and gut it,i did to mine b4 the mice could get to it lol

Precisely what I had already posted! There is no way he can get the nest out. No way to actually know if there is one in there either. Gotta cut it open!

No, because it's not exactly a tube, so to say. If there is nesting in there, the exhaust pressure will just push it into the corners, not OUT the pipe.
There are 3 chambers. A middle chamber that the mice can't get into. The left chamber that the right pipe is attached to, the right chamber with the left pipe. And the 2 outer chambers are connected with a couple of perforated tubes. So the mice could go in the left tube, that goes into the right chamber...build a nest there, and head across the to other side via the perforated tubes!!
It a bloodly apartment building in there!!!

S#!@, now you got me nervous. I'll be checking mine on tuesday. I forgot to stuff the pipes, hopefully the fabric softener sheets are still close enough to keep those buggers out

sorry about that 87gtnos,i meant to say that what i was say was backing you up,if the mice got in on side and plugged it the the entire exhaust would be exiting out one side so you could probably feel if there was more pressure on one side or the other,to be safe you better cut it and gut it
