This really sucks, my sled is too long to allow me to open the front so I have to back it off. No big deal I thought until I hung up on the rear snow flap. Damn thing buckled under and my track dug into it :x
Any suggestions?

Drill 1/4'' hole at btm. center of the flap & use a short bungy to the bumper.Works for me.

Great Idea! Now how do I get the chrome back on the letters

My suspension sags so much (since new) that I had to cut 4" off the bottom of the flap so I could back up on asphalt without sucking it under the track! I still can't back up on anything except asphalt or a VERY hard packed trail. Even on packed groomed trails it digs in and burries itself very easily.

Don't know if this would completely work but Sno-Stuff sells a small metal wire device that is designed to hold the snow flap out. Following is the web link. It's a $6 item from them.

It would be real easy to make something like this....

snow flap

I took my snow flap off to add the rack for the back. before I put the flap back on I bent the metal that the flap connects too out enough to keep it out of the way.

I'm on my third snow flap this season (3 rides), you'd think I'd learn. Just got in a shorter snow flap from Port Yamaha. That should solve the problem.

Same idea only used two narrow straps rapped around the bumper then down to each side of flap, also pulled the flap out away from the track. boone

I let my buddy borrow my MXZ 600, and I have no friggin' clue as to what he was thinking, but he drove into the back of my RX1 and bent that cheap piece of metal that is suppesed to hold the flap out. I think I am going to give the bottom of my snow flap a hair cut. :P

I installed a plastic stiffener underneath my snowflap. It actually comes off a ZX chassis Skidoo, crawl under one and you'll see what I mean. It works really good and as for that gaudy chrome highlighting on the letters, that came off real easy with some lacquer thinner on a rag. RX FUN

I carry a bungie. I go from the bumper. around the flap, then back to the bumper. I have been thinking about drilling a hole. I also riveted a 3/4 inch thick piece of aluminum on the bottom of the flimsy metal to hold the flap out.

You can slide the flap up higher, and re-rivet it. or buy a shorter one.

I have a Silver sled, with red accessaries, so I got some red paint, and an artist brush, and painted the letters gloss red. Masking would be difficult. My paint doesn't come off. I wonder why Yamaha silver comes off with age.
