I have used quite a bit of Canadian fuel and continue to have a problem when I am there. The sled will start and idle but when I hit the throttle it bogs to 2800 RPM then begins to spit sputter and backfire and not move. However when I start it with the throttle pinned she shoots down the trail until I let off then she goes right back to her ways. Now on this last trip she was running fine and I went to restart her and she wouldn't stay running until I put the choke at about 3/4. Then she still wouldn't take off. Is this a a fuel, TORS or electrical problem?? I am lost and I really don't think its TORS. What and where to look? It only seems to happen in Canada. Should I try dry gas?? Or who is looking to make some $$ in the Flint or Detroit area and give her a once over?

Whenever I'm on a bagger trip to Canada I always fill the tank and add dry gas every night
The sled always starts and runs fine

Do you see the code 84 flash on the dash when it's behaving badly?

Haven't seena code 84 but would need to check since there is nothing flashing. What is and 84 and what does it designate. I can look in the manual for sure eh!

I would just make sure it is not the TORS by bypassing it! And then see from there!
i have over 7000 miles all in quebec canada along with 3 other rx1's no fuel issues.have you modified your sled in any way?do you use gauntlets

If the TORS activates you'll get the red warning light and the speedo will flash "84".
It's pretty easy to try...the manual has nice picts...basically you hold the throttle pivot away from the switchgear. You'll notice the pivot point moves a bit, this is to activate the TORS switch. So you hold it away making the TORS think the throttle is released...then push the throttle open a bit.
The revs will rise, and the code will flash and light will light.

It has NEVER flashed 84...ever. I am thinking I have an electrical anomoly here. Where should I look?? Never gauntlets. And I had this problem before the ECP kit.

TORS or bad Gas
I had the same problem with my '04 RXER When I took it to the dealer they said to me that the TORS was out of alignment. I saw him adjust something on the carbs that fix the problem.
I’ve been riding in Quebec for the last 6 years for two weeks at a time and never had bad gas.

It sounds like the same thing that happened to me on my 95 600 V-Max with TORS. The problem ended up being that when I turned the handlebars the throttle cable was getting caught on something and the TORS would activate
Check your cable and the adjustment for the TORS
I have been going up to Quebec for the last 11 years and I have never gotten any bad gas 8)
