In the service manual it states that if after charging the battery, that the voltage is below 12volts, replace the battery.
Alot of premature problems with the battery is because of inital incorrect charging at the dealership and no fault of the owner who took care of it properly.
I always carry a set of them smaller jumper cables, just in case.

I got a set of those from my son last Christmas. Hopefully I'll never have to use them, but it's a good idea to have them.

My 07 RS Nytro battery, starter, and starter solenoid lasted two years - that is a nasty repair bill. I'm pretty disheartened about the whole affair - I thought Yamaha's were bulletproof. FWIW my brother in-law's Vector battery lasted one season.

That sucks. I guess there are exceptions to the rule with everyone. It's odd that the starter, solenoid, AND battery all went at the same time? Sure they weren't just throwing parts at it?

If you are looking for a durable battery look for a battery called a Deka. They are made in USA and seem to last better than even a Yuasa.
