Has anyone moved the battery from below the seat to under the intake or into the engine bay?
Or has anyone come across a kit to do this.... I see when you get a skinz seat you have to relocate the battery but they don't say were or if there is a kit.
Looking to move some weight forward and off the back of the machine, hoping it will help keep the back end from dropping out on me when in a side hill.

this may be a great idea, with all the voltage issues. i know with a turbo and the old air box removed there is room to locate in the same place as the apex was. (in front of the motor) maybe cure starting issues also. less cable = more voltage to the starter.

If the back end is dropping out on you when your side hilling it's because you're standing too far back on the running board try moving your foot forward on the running board.

I just went with a Earth Battery, more than half the weight and twice the cranking amps. A little pricey but worth it.

If you are just looking at lightening up the rear end the skinz seat might be the way to go with a light weight gel cell or AGM battery. I know Skinz website does say the battery has to be moved but a guy on Snow West is saying that is not correct here is a pic I stole of his sled, this is the Freeride X-low seat and as you can see there is a little cover for the batteryHas anyone moved the battery from below the seat to under the intake or into the engine bay?

Im thinking of going this route as well to lose some weight and make it easier to jump from one running board to the other, the stock mountain seat is nice until you have to jump over it then it become vary bulky. My only hang up is the $450 sticker price for an aftermarket seat ouch

I too went with the earth x battery and dropped a considerable amount of weight off the back end at least 10 lbs. Yes a bit pricey but like Mitch said worth it. I have been running it for 2 seasons with no issues in Manitoba.

I have been running a ballistic battery, however the problem I have encountered is that the li-ion battery gets stronger the more you crank it or cycle the battery. My compression with the stroker motor has enough kick back on a weak battery to stop the starter mid crank breaking all the teeth off the gears while on a compression stroke. This effect will be compounded since I just shaved the head as well. I have a temp solution with my ballistic battery but I would like to find a lightweight battery that works like a YTX20LBS. cranks hard and dies out rather than get stronger the more I crank it. relocating it to the nose would also keep some of the weight lower in the chassis and further forward.

Might look at a decompression release of some kind for starting.
