What do others do with your battery in the summer? Trickle charge? Disconnect it? My battery fried over the summer, only got 2 years out of it.

I use a trickle charger part of the time, and and a AGM battery. More important if you are using a conventional lead acid battery. Avoid leaving one of those in a hot trailer over the summer.

I'm on year 4 of just disconnecting my battery in the offseason. I run just a cheap Fleet Farm Road Runner battery. I assume best practice would be to pull it out of the sled and keep it on an automatic trickle charger while not in use.

I take the battery out of my sled and put it on a trickle charger for like a week at a time like every 3-4 weeks. Even with an automatic trickle charger I don't leave it on the battery all the time. I do the same things with my motorcycle batteries in the winter months. The battery in my Harley is 7 years old. G.B.

I agree with G.B. Throw it on the trickle charger once a month & once it’s charged take it off.
