Coming off Ski-Doo I think I'm spoiled by 2 minute trailside belt deflection adjustments with a simple turn of a wrench.

My understanding is Yamaha's are different...they gotta be shimmed internally?

A quick primer would be great. I presume it has to come off the sled, am I wrong on this? Do you need a clutch dog tool to assemble/disassemble like most secondarys?

Thanks! I'm an active tuner who keeps things perfect at all times. So ease of adjustments is one of many factors I will consider before buying a sled. I'm curious if this adjustment is a pain or if it's fairly quick and simple.

You have to remove the belt and the secondary bolt to remove the secondary clutch..

There is 3 small screws that go in threw the back side of the clutch that have to either have washers (spacers) added or removed depending on what you want to do..

No special tools necessary

Ahhh...that doesn't sound too bad. So if I'm understanding this correctly, you don't actually need to disassemble the clutch because the shims are on the outside, right? You just need to remove it in order to access the 3 screws that hold the shims in place?

Forgive my ignorance, I've never seen this done on a Yami. Thanks.

Oh hey....that brings to mind another question. Does Yamaha provide a nifty tool that spreads & holds the secondary sheaves open to help you remove the belt (another way Ski-Doo spoiled me), or does it take brute force and dirty hands to turn & spread open the sheaves the old fashioned way?

Thanks again!
