rxrider said:My friend put on the old 8DN-....-00 belt he got from me on his RX-1 turbo. The belt I gave it to him was used last season in my RX-1 turbo. Today he rode 200 kms or 125 miles with some mountain climbing and a lot of dragracing on the lake with no belt issues. Clutching wasn't changed either and we did ride hard all day. This tells me the new 8DN belt is not as strong as the old 8DN belt.
Hmmm, i have used the new 01 belt for ~1500km in various boondocking, trailriding and dragracing now and it's just marginally weared, it's still little above the edge on the seondary sheaves, the belt came with the sled, the clutching is about the same as my old sled which i drove mostly with the old 00 belt over 3000km, and only a short time with the new 01 belt, so i don't know if it is my clutching that gives the belt long life, but for me the new belt works just fine!

Good point TBird.
I should have pointed out that what I said was for trail use, not deep snow or boondocking.
Have you tested the fuel and boost mappings? What does your WBO2 tell you.

Sorry, that is a "no can do" for me right now :-(!
My computer does not want to communicate with the ECU, so both upload and download is impossible! :-(

Actually, yamaha changed the design of there belts. The new 8DN...-01 has a different taper at the top of the belt as compaired to the old 8DN...-00. You wouldn't think that it would make any difference but it does. We have seen a dramatic drop in life expectency with the new ...01 compared to the old ...00. Hopefully yamaha goes back to the old design. We've snatched up all t he old ones we could find. We went from going all season on a belt (old design) to as little as a couple hundred miles on t he new design.

Agreed, I hope we still can get hold of the ..00 belt in the future, that belt sucks for hillclimbing.
Here in Norway we can still order the ...00 belt and we do!

Thats weird (not weared
), as i wrote earlier, i can't see any difference in lifetime on my 01 belt compared to the old 00 style belt, that is on an Apex Mtx with only about 300hp that i boondock and dragrace with! I also pulled a sled out of the wilderness when his chain broke on an Ski-Doo Summit, still on the same new design belt!
I promise, it have worked as hard as the old one that lasted about one season, 3000km / 1875miles
I now have 1591km / ~994miles on the new one, and the belt still is above the sheaves in the secondary, when i measure the belt it have lost less then 1mm, ~0.7mm compared to a not used 01 belt!

As i wrote " "i" can't see any difference"
With my type of driving the old 00 belt lasted ~3000km, but at that time it was worn much more then 0,7mm, if my memory serves me it was worn at least 2mm!
And if the new 01 belt only last 2000km i'm still happy, i don't drive a Doo that eat belts for breakfast, lunch AND dinner!

Yamaha claims the only difference is the slight chamfer at the top of the belt at the dealer class I attended at the beginning of the year. I've used only 00 belts, Except the one on my Nytro, but sure doesn't seem like that small chamfer would change much.
