Well the XS lasted two days. I broke it in and washed it but i was pretty hard on it. Deep pow riding, warm temps 25-30F and not much cool down so It was probably my fault. i am going to try another one. I also have to still fine tune my clutching. I am still not quite pulling the rr's I should. Its close ) about 8500 in the DEEP) So i will drop a little off the primary and try that.
where is the deep Pow??? It seems that the 4 strokes are a little more finicky when it comes to belts. My experience is that the yamaha belt likes a tight wind with the secondary. The ultimax belt is softer and does not require the wind.
This is what it took for me to solve the belt issue on my old vector. I had alot of belt issues from the get go with it and a stock belt would only make 50-100 miles max. I changed the primary rollers to the smaller roller 14.5 which equals more force from the primary/grip so the belt would not slip there anymore. In turn my rpms dropped so i drilled the rivets out and ran with an empty weight. the secondary had the hartman multi angle helix and ran at 6-2 with the dayco ultimax 3 belt. I have yet to change the belt since the changes.
i think alot of the problem with the nytro is that belt slips in the primary there for you get a lot of heat. Next year i will be changing rollers and i will be adding a header and muffler so hopefully that will balance the rpms.
Cantwell. Well lets say bottomless. Clutches are not running cool. Put the smaller rollers in and have been playing with the weights to get the RPMs right and I am close but still need to drop some weight but the cluthes are HOT. Need to get that figured out.

I found that when I removed the sway bar I started to blow belts - two stock and two xs and one carlile. I have the Hartman clutch kit; I took it in to the dealer thinking the clutch was bad - nothing wrong. Found that the holes left from the sway bar removal was letting snow in and thus blowing belts. So I put a finger from a rubber glove in the hole and filled it with spray foam then capped it off with silicon. I put the sled through hell this weekend and did not even burn the belt. Hope this helps.
Hey not to poach A thread but since there is a bunch of ak riders here Im looking for a stock mtx 22 tooth gear and chain. Just hoping someone re geared and has it laying around. All I need it for is arctic man so I dont want to buy the set up. I have a spare 20 tooth set up if someone wants to gear down.

what is your gearing? I was up at eureka on sunday and my belt is now about toast. I need prefilter and some extra screens.
I find that the belt is getting wet. and there is no air getting to the clutch

Gearing is 19/40. I have a lot of snow that gets in the motor compartment and I think this may have something to do with tit also. The belt might be getting a little wet and slipping a bit but I do not notice it. I have some vents but I need more. Need to get that air moving under their.

Cover all your vents, They get alot of snow in there. I would be more concerned with snow than heat.

yes i would say eureka was my 1st real problem with the clutch. slipping and no back shift.
I had 2560 miles on my 1st belt but it blew 100 miles after I set the secondary at 120 deg. pre-load. Of course it blew on an up hill pull. My 1st thought was that it blew because it was worn out. However, the 2nd blew blew after only 260 miles on an up hill pull. So I'm changing the secondary back to 90 deg. and try it there.
