I had my clutches rebuilt before the season. This includes everything replaced on the primary except the spider. The secondary had the spring, bushings, and ramps replaced.

Last year I was getting about 1,500 miles per belt. This year I got about 5,000 miles on my belt before it started to go. Which is the longest I had ever had a belt last. My only problem is I seem to have more belt slip this year. I notice it when I am on and off the throttle. If I am going 15mph or so and blip the throttle it will squeal. Sometimes if I am between moguls and go to hammer it, it will squeal.

I try and clean the clutches with a scotch brite pad every couple thousand miles. I also wash my belts and break them in.

No this is not from me locking my track up when coming to a fast stop. I run all stock clutching components and settings.

Any ideas?

How high in the secondary is your belt riding? Did you check the center to center distance of the clutches?

Sorry I left that out. The belt is darn near level with the top of the seondary. I have tried removing the washers on the secondary and replaced them with the .5mm washers and there was no change so I put the stock 1mm's back in.

I have not inspected the center to center yet but I figured I was not blowing belts so it should be ok?

I am thinking if the center to center is on the short side that the belt would slip more. What is your engagement RPM?

I am pretty sure the engagement rpm is right in spec at 3,500 but I will check that tonight along with the center to center. Anything else while I am at it?

Are you using the new model belt 01?

This happens with both the old model and new model belts.

I will give the sled a good look over for broken mounts tonight. I really hope that is not the case though!

from what i understand you NEVER remove the stock washers on the back of the secondary, you just add whatever size you need to make the belt ride just a hair above the clutch, at least that is what i did and got nearly 5k out of my origonal belt (just changed it and took the shims out) and the new belt rides perfect and behaves perfectly.

No broken motor mounts that I could find.

My jackshaft was a mess though. There is a ton of this rust type powder on the shaft and where the shaft slides through the clutch.

Can I clean and apply a thin layer of grease?

while your there remove the seal on the jackshaft bearing and grease it as well. for the shaft splines use grease or neversieze.

X2 on the advice from grader, but I doubt that this was the cause of your belt slippage unless the secondary was siezed tight to the shaft and could not self align with the primary. Did the secondary clutch slide off easy or was it siezed tight to the jackshaft?

with a brush it cleans it like new, also i might be nuts but i change my
belt every 1200-1500 miles, for $55 it's a piece of mind.

Yamadog, do you want to sell some of your 1500 mile belts? LOL! I have heard of guys getting at least three times that distance out of the belt but I guess that it depends upon how you ride. I had 2500 miles on my original belt but a long river run at full throttle in deep snow the other weekend did mine in.
