hey guys
took the 09 nytro xtx for the 1st time ever, bought it this summer (finally got some snow on the east coast) and love how this thing rips. My question is, at a stop the belt squeels pretty bad. Then when i go it stops. I went home and took off secondary. 3 washers on each 8 mil bolt. Took I off, down to 2 and still making noise, just not as bad. should i go down to one washer? belt to tight?

If it is squealing at idle, it must be coming from your primary no? Even If the secondary was hanging up and not fully back shifting, there would be excessive belt in the primary, so it still shouldn't squeal...that's my theory at least. Maybe its not the proper belt? Check your clutch alignment? Maybe your primary isn't disengaging fully, what RPM does it engage at? Just some ideas for ya to think about.

Ensure the measurment of your belt top (cog) is over the top of the secondary sheave I think 1-3 mm above is correct. Those washers are what gives you your sheave width. More means closed or tighter and less is open or belt sits lower. Most people run 1 each bolt after belt wear. I just change the belt pesonally.
If that's all within then look at alignment and signs of any remnant belt strands or build up. Try a brake clean bath or take it off and soap & hot water might make a world of diff.

I've got the same problem on my 09 xtx. It never did it until I threw a belt and put a new one on so I just figured it was cause the belt wasn't fully worn in yet. I tried taking all my washers off the secondary trying to open it up farther and still will squeal at times. Tried another new belt and same thing. Im using Goodyear gatorback belts, so maybe brand has something to do with it?

Mine does the same thing. It just means the belt is a little too tight. I've never bothered adjusting the sheeves cause I figured it would wear in, but it's been like that now for a long time, so maybe it's time to play with it.
