Bergstrom

I have powderhounds with 8" Triplepoints,3/8" skisavers, and a 3/8" shim in the FRONT of the ski rubber. Toein is set at 1/4" inward. I also pulled my limiter strap one hole shorter. Sled rails with NO darting!! The Slydog ski bumpers will allow the front of the ski to ride too high if unshimmed. Scott Bergstrom said 3/8" shim, but I tried a 1/4" first. Should have listened to him LOL. Good handling, GREAT flotation, and no darting. Any other questions, just ask ;)!

What are people set their toe at with a set of powderhounds w/bergstoms package (carbides and ski savers) or for that matter what ever brand of skis you are running?

:-o

Slydogs like to be toed in a little bit. I'm running 1/8" toe in, but there are others running as much as 1/4". About 90% of my darting has been eliminated with Slydogs shimmed 3/8" in front of the ski, toe in, and Shaper Bars.

You are running 8" triplepoint ? Do you have studs ? I ordered from Bergstrom and he said to use 6" if I was not running on ice all the time . Just wondering what you think.

I have an Attak. I also replaced my Ripsaw with a Predator, unsatudded. The 6" will be fine. My motto is if Scott said, just do it ;)! . Every single thing he has told me to try has worked. Now I just smile and say "Yes sir!"

I ordered a set of 8" triple points back in the end of December, still haven't shown up. Called Bergstrom and they are way behind schedule. Figures, now the snow is here and my carbides still aren't. Hope they are worth the wait, a "got to have" item that I can't ride without...

He told me it would be 2 weeks or less so I hope that is the time line I cant steer worth a *h*t with the 4" that came with the Pilot skis

Shim in front for Slydog's, in the back for all other ski's from my experience.

Back! If you go to the FAQ section there is a link to shimming. You want the leading edge of your carbides about 1/16"-1/8" off the ground. This is best checked on your garage or shop floor with you on the seat. When you set them up this way, they carve rather than plow. Think of them like a caster wheel. When you push a caster wheel, it wants to trail. If it wont swivel, it constantly tries to swivel. This is a simple representation of darting.

Insted of removing the ski savers can you bevel the front of them so they wont catch as much and limit the drag ?

Mine have all been beveled. I have noticed no reduction in top speed. Runs 120 all day on the dreammeter, and have seen 126 on 1 occasion.
