I have several different clutch kits from various sources. I just purchased a NX system from CB and am looking for some direction on clutching. I have a heavy hitter setup from Matt, a Dalton setup, the stock setup and a supertorquer setup using the 2 sp. wt. Some guys claim they jump anywhere from 600 - 1300 rpm when on the juice! Be interested to hear what any of you guys see for gain in rpm when on the button. Also, have heard some horror stories about the heel clickers yet have spoken to several people who swear by them. Apparently initially they used compressed powdered steel to make the original wts. There were apparently some failures.Did they stand behind the failures? The wts. are now made from billet steel according to Supertorquer. The biggest problem I am aware of is if you break a belt, the shoulder cannot get back fast enough before the primary slams shut causing the clutch to go out of balance and ka-boom. I just bought this kit and would rather eat it than explode the motor. ----Could I hear some feedback from actual users both plus and minus on the heel clicker 2 spd wts?

longshot, did you find any clutching remedies?

i run a 50 horse. pill. rpm jumps about 7-800 rpm. but i also run mine a little on the fat side just to be safe. as far as blowing a belt- run the yammi. when they blow they take the outer band off and don't exactly slam open. i'm running the clickers on mine and haven't had any problems (crossing fingers), just make sure you clearance the clutch for the shoulder and you should be fine. i'd honestly have to look at the weights to give you the amount of wieght i added and the machine is up at my cabin. if you're that worried about it i can take a look this weekend when i go up.

I stay with the Yami belt also.

Clutching for wet nitrous setup

NosPro- No, have not got the clutching done yet. No snow out east here unless you go 500 miles north. Will have to do some prelim stuff on the ponds. The thing that threw me is that the dry systems jump the rpm up around 400-600rpms. this wet system has pulled 1200-1500 more rpms which tells me it is making a lot more power. Plan is to clutch for about 9500 without the nitrous then hit it to find out how many rpm she jumps. I have been told to keep out of the rev limiter or you will pop the head gaskets so I want to be very careful on the first run or two. If you have any guidance, I sure would appreciate it.

New Apex/Attak has 14.5 rollers

nos pro did you have the smaller rollers on your old sled? i have them a will find out gain this weekend. its snowing here

Yamahajunkie- This setup was run bay Dan at CB Perf, the supplier of the kit out of Illinois and he claims his rpm jumps by this much. Don't know what it will do on mine, just don't want to pop head gaskets so will clutch low for initial runs and take wt out if I have to for next run.

way to play it safe. test the water. over fuel, remember bog is good, you dont want it to rip on your first run. then lean fuel out little by little. ;)!

I had the stock rollers in the 03, and had the smaller rollers in the 05. Wouldn't believe the rate of ramp speed with the different rollers.

i hope this doesnt sound stupid...but with NOS if the rpms jump that much, and you need to clutch for 9500rpms....does this mean when you just go trail riding or just lake riding without the NOS your sled will only rev 9500?...so it will be a real slow ride?

if so,NOS really is moreso for drag racing correct?

thanks

With the Super Tip weights we had NOS-PRO's sled setup to run 10,200 or so without the nitrous and 10,800 with the NOS on. I believe his engine has broken in more and he is now spinning more rpm. I talk to him last week and he was going to add more tip weight on the weights themselves.
