The Intruder & Invader were cool sleds, the Invader was every bit as fast as the 81 SRX440.
You have to go back to 69 for me when Yamaha had the SL351, Remember their add. Two guys fueling up a Cat & Polaris mixing their fuel in a 5 gallon can, along comes the SL351 pulls up pops the cap and fuels up then leaves. The caption then reads YAMAHA LEAVES THE COMPETITION SHAKIN IN THEIR BOOTS! :lol: 8) YA BABY!

Had a '83 VMAX 540. Looked cool with radiator on the hood and the flip headlight. It had Aaen twin pipes installed and was the fastest sled around here at that time.... until the motor blew ka-bammmm the crank went in two pieces.
I loved that sled, and it did not ever overheat. :ORC $4!7 its summer and raining, at least 5 months till snow.

I would say invader 1978 still have three of them and will never forget the look on my friends faces as I was going by, the flip up head light was cool too!!! If they could of held on I would of been a kaw man. Come to think of it it was blue and cool, those were the only sleds that were on charlies angels.

I think the 03 red rx1 is my favorite best looking of all time, but it's gone to sled heaven on march 25 2004 r.i.p. Now I'm stuck with the boring silver one.
1xr your obviously mentally disturbed :lol: the 03 Silver ltd edition is by far the best looking sled Yamaha ever made If they had done silver for the 05's i would of had one of those too (if the wife would have gone for it) :shock: My take is this as long as it say's YAMAHA it's one of the best looking sleds period

I miss my red one. I changed the shade of red to dodge viper red in clear coat, so I could colar sand it. Much better finish. Took the ugly black decal off the hood.The colar also matched the seat better. Hem I've got a new 03 red seat cover I should make a clone of the dead red sled.
The silver is well ok now that the ugly decal is off and it has a black seat cover. What to do?
