Hey Guys,

I know there have been tonnes of debates about which is the best ski to replace the stock Nytro skiis but what about the best skiis on a budget? Are the new Yamaha skiis gonna cost less cause I may be able to re-use some parts from my 2011 Xtx? Are the new Yamaha skiis even any good? I'd be riding 60% trail and 40% off.

Any and all thoughts are appreciated!

If your on a tight budget i agree with your idea of the new yamaha tuner skis. They end up being about half the price of simmons or curves etc. Im sure someone will chime in about the new tuner ski. I have no experience with them. All i have ever rode are simmons and although they are pricey i love them. good luck!

If you're looking for skis on a budget, go with the Tuners for sure. I ran them all last "winter" LOVED 'em. On trial. They made my nytro a completely different sled. It goes where I want it to and no darting. Handles Awesome!! I cant really comment on the off trail performance with the lack of snow we had last year but, they are about an inch wider so I'm guess slighty better floatation.

Picked up my 12 Hold over XTX Monday and picked up a set of tuner skis with 4" and 2" carbides today. I had Simmons Flexx III's on my last sled and liked them, but with carbides they were just under $500. The complete tuner setup was $256, looks like I have some cash left over for a OFT steering set up:-)

Thanks guys! Looks like the new tuner skiis may be in my future, good to hear they work well. I'm liking that under $300 price tag too!

My new tuners showed up today and I gotta say they look pretty nice! Can't wait till we get some snow!

Thanks for the Pic Dave! Schlick55 mentioned that he picked up a set of 4 inch and 2 inch carbides for his tuners. Is this the best carbide set up for these skiis?

I also just bought a '12 carryover XTX and since my budget is a bit limited I also decided to add the new tuner skis as an accessory. I figured if I added the skis I basically have a '13. I found mine just slightly cheaper then that, but pretty close with shipping. I also went with a 4" and 2" carbide since I figured that set up would give me a pretty good middle ground between docile and aggressive.

It does seem like quite a few people are taking advantage of the good incentives and deals on carryover Yamaha sleds right now. I have noticed quite a few people posting about buying one. That is good news!

There was a Snow Tech Magizine article that stated 2" on the inside and just a the bar on the outside was enough for a trail rider. I am doing 114 1.450 Woody's with the new Studboy race backers (They look insane), so I wanted more then suggested as far as carbide goes. If it is to much I will spend another $50 and go down to 2" and 2", and if it is not enough I will spend $50 and go up to 6" and 4" I will tell you what I think in a couple of months. Reguardless I am still $200 ahead of anything else that is out there

With my Simmons FlexxIII it took about 3mph out of the top end. I will trade 3mph for a perdictable stable sled any day. I didn't buy a Nytro to go 130mph across the lake. If I want to do that I will drive over to KING'R's house and get on his boosted Apex.

I don't run studs, but I do have an XTX. Is a 4" inside and a 2" outside too much without studs? I think it would be ok, but I can always change the outside to a plain bar if needed.
