I don't know if this has been previously covered or not, but if you have studs and the Hauck pipe installed, read on! I was bouncing around the TY forums and was in the Classifieds. I saw someone (onrof) selling a Hauck Apex pipe and wanted to see what he was getting for his as I had recently purchased one and was currious to see his price. I saw in his add ths it stated it had been professionaly modified so it wouldn't contact the studs. Then I wrote himand aked what was up, as mine will be going to Hauck to have his get r dun kit installed. The mod included rolling the front y and recutting the y so it lines up with the stock exit points. My RTX is already studded and it doesn't have the 4 inch spacing on the center of the track. For this Hauck will reccomend adding 1 inch to your tunnel protectors, which will make the suspension bottom out 1 inch sooner. I haven't looked into this too far as the sled is in the back of a storage shed still but I was alarmed to find this out and thought maybe someone else was in the same boat as I was. Or maybe someone else would have had the same problem and had a little more information.

1" tunnel protectors won't make the suspension bottom out sooner....the suspension NEVER bottoms out in the tunnel. The track stretches from centrifigal (sp?) force and the studs contact the tunnel. Usually this happens as a result of a loose track.

You don't want the Huach stuff anyway. It doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:o| It doesn't work!! I spent a lot of money on it!! WELL ACTUALLY I got it from mnmsonowbeast. Thanks for the good deal. I have heard the rxt's with this exhaust and I think it sounds pretty cool. I guess at least I can count on that!! I'm surprised that no one really hit on this subject. A lot of lookers though. I just don't like to have to worry about my studs tearing off my exhaust in the middle of the UP. Hauck says not to stud down the middle 4 inches, but i already have mine studded. I think I'll be getting busy cutting and modding this exhaust before I put it on. :o|

What good is pipe if you gotta mod it?? Shame on you HAUCK.

And it isnt a baffle type, so you have to repack the damn thing periodically.
also it looks like a sheet of aluminum wrapped around and rivited to 2 end caps.
Had trouble with that type of construction on motorcycles, the rivits tear out :o|

exhaust

I believe all hauck's exhaust is like that you can't stud down the center 4".
It use to say that on his website under exhaust description,I don't know if it still does.

These are 4-stroke engines. They DO NOT respond to exhaust changes like 2-strokes do.

hmmm.....sure they do.

maybe a 2 stroke will make an average (let's be realistic) 5-15 hp from a pipe(s). Whereas, a 4stroke will make similar power, possibly broaden the torque big time, etc....

However, what we are seeing here is so far, no one's APEX exhaust has done SQUAT.

Bike's , like my ZX9, dyno'ng stock at 128 rwhp, then making 141 rwhp after a pipe and jetting. This is TYPICAL. (mine hasn't yet, got high rpm jetting issues!)
