Any advantages or disadvantages going from plastic bogie wheels to billet? Most of my riding is on the trails. Someone told me that billets are better in the deep stuff, and the rubber on them do not last as long as the plastic. Thanks again guys
:rocks: :letsnow:

if you are a trail rider with studs, if you ride in snirt, if you have a track taller than 1.25" the billets will not look nice long, could blister your track at the contact patch of the wheel, and or get chipped up by the studs. do they look good? yes, do they make sense for a long term sled? no.

non rubber rimmed wheels will be damaged faster than rubber coated. as far as the rubber not lasting long, pre plastic age, most wheels were made of aluminum.

i have had non rubber rimmed wheels, on several sleds, and will not go back.

They can still break on the trail from aggressive riding, at night, 20 miles from camp.......ya I won't have 'em again, and then it takes mountain machines 9 months to replace them under thier lifetime warranty. :o|

One broke in half going down the trail, the other one wasnt going to be far behind it, there was a crack where the red circle is.

have to agree with the above posters. Had my ripsaw blister up pretty good where the billet wheels ran. They look good, but as posted, will never run them again on a high mileage use trail sled. YMMV

I bought the Yamaha ones out of the catalog. I got the ones with the tuning fork design. Hopefully if Yamaha markets and sells them, they'll last longer than most?? My '06 only has 1600 miles on it, so I don't think I'm in danger of punding the miles on too hard. Most of my miles are from trips to Munising and Mercer anyway, and the trails are usually better than most.

Thats the same thing I was thinking. Most of my riding is up that way also. I have the slydog open black blue and white ones now. I saw the Fork billets on an SE at Hauk this weekend, and they looked awesome. That got me thinking HMMM??

Thanks

Thanks for the info guys. Nothing worse then getting stranded.
