What is the best way to bleed the cooling system?

In the Yamaha owner's manual, it says to mix coolant and water @ a 60:70 ratio, WHAT the HELL does that mean. The last time I checked ratios total 100%

Thanx for all your help guy's :yam:

Too much info not needed. Mix the same as for your car. Half and half usually works for me. I just raised the rear of my sleda bit, bled the air from the rear exchanger and then topped it off. Not difficult at all. Haven't had a problem since.

A 50-50 mix should protect you from freezeing down to -30 F. A mix of 60%(antifreeze)-40%(water) should be good to -45 F. Never mix any stronger than 60-40 or you start losing cooling ability.
Do not trust a dealer to do this right, check it with a tester. Prairie dog has bleeding down pat, it is that simple. But before you go riding warm your sled up, feel your running boards and make sure your getting circulation.

I use the Honda premix in the blue bottle.

After you do that there is something else you may want to do.
Or perhaps do it instead of the bleed screw as it is easier.
On a tilted trailer, or with your sled run up a snowbank at a pretty good angle, fire her up with the coolent cover cap off.
Run her until she is good an hot.
[check you exchangers to make sure all are hot.]
That has cleaned out all the bubbles for me and a number of others.
After putting on the rear exchanger and bleeding at the exchanger, this procedure took out more air and she needed another 6 ounces or so.
