14 XTX with Sledstart HID ....keeps blowing headlight fuse. Put new fuse lights both work fine. Lasts a few miles then blows fuse again. Lights out.
Gotta be a wire issue causing a short no? Probably not a ballast issue. Any help appreciated wiring not my strong suit.

First step is determine the overall load in watts your new hid lights consume. Now 12 volts at 100 watts is 8.3 amps draw. use this to see how large a fuse you should have. if it is more than the factory fuse rating, you will need to run a relay to feed the new lights. Do not put a bigger fuse, big no no.

Lights have been in sled since it was new. Have replaced bulbs once and one ballast. It never ever blew the fuse before.

I keep spare stock H4s in my Attak in case of HID issues. Lost my HID lights (not a blown fuse) on a trip a few years back so I just put in stock bulbs bi-passing all of the HID connections but leaving them on board. When I got home I put a new battery in and reconnected the HIDs, been working since. The HIDS don't like low voltage (weak battery). I would try to run with stock bulbs and see if fuse blows.
check for wires getting rubbed through, usually where you zip tie a harness to a metal bracket.
Don't ask how i know.

most likely a wire rubbing thru somewhere take loose the wires and look for wear. a bad ballast could cause overload as well. check wires first.
