Last week I was out for a night ride with lots of off trail power line riding and some high speed trail riding. After a 20 km stretch of off trail we got back onto the trails and started rippin it up. I had a bad vibration in my feet so I assumed I was iced up so I put the hammer down and my thumb to the bar. So long story short, just at the moment that I was thinking that the vibration was stronger on my left side....Kaboom, there she goes. All of the cords from the belt were wraped into the secondary, and there wasn't a piece of rubber longer than one inch.
Of coarse the stock belt guard looked like the dogs breakfast! I guess I'm lucky that I didn't blow a hole in my plastics but I did dent the hell out of my foot guard. I didn't want to replace the stock guard as it is junk. Then I remembered seeing a custom guard on these forums by a member Nitris223. I contacted him and he gave me a great price and he told me how much it had costed him previously to ship one from Saskatchewan to New Brunswick, and because I live in Ontario I knew the shipping would be cheaper but I didn't want to wait for a quote for the exact amount. So I sent him a payment with too much money but I didn't care as I just wanted the guard ASAP!
When Nitris223 went to ship it out he seen how I had payed him too much so he included in the package a starter saver he made for me. The starter saver took 10 min to install, and it workes perfectly! It took me 30 min to install the belt guard and it is one solid unit! No worries about blowing belts now!
I am strongly recommending for people to upgrade their belt guards. And Nitris223 gives a great price on a nice piece of gear!

Good to hear. I installed mine yesterday along w his starter saver too. Real nice piece of work and solid. The starter saver is a great piece of mind aswell. The first pic shows the oem flimsy belt guard sitting on top of Nitris' new belt guard....good reference as to the area the old guard protected
Thanks Dennis

Post some pics, interested to see it.
Thanks
Ms

Ps what is starter saver?

The starter saver is a simple two wire connection w an LED light on one end. One wire attaches to the starter selonoid and the other to ground. The light is fixed through a drilled hole on ur dash. After starting your sled, the light will turn on for a second or two, then shut off indicating your starter is no longer on. If the light flashes continuously, then ur starter is still engaged.

Thanks for the info on that. Wasn't aware someone addressed that problem.
I have not come across this issue. Is it common?

developing a vibration, and then pinning it fixes everything. Said. No one. Ever.
Yep, like a typical dictator I was drunk with power and not thinking of any consequences:D. But it wouldn't have been the first time that ice buildup had caused a vibration.

The starter relay had some problems on the 08 -09's I think but the relay has been updated . It can still fail and that LED light will let you know something is wrong. Some guys have said that when the nytro is running , your starter can stay engaged and you can not hear it . Take off on a run somewhere and you don't know your starter is trashed until you try and start the sled. If the light stays on that is a signal that the relay is probably stuck and your starter is possible still engaged. It gives you a chance to shut down the motor and potentially save your starter if it is still running. If the starter is still running after shutting down the sled you will have to disconnect the battery cables to stop it. I don't think the kill switch or key will stop it if the relay is stuck. I keep a screwdriver in my tank bag just for that reason on any electric start sled. Had that happen on a sled one time and I have carried that screwdriver from sled to sled.

Quick battery disconnects are a good option for that but I haven't found a compact option for the nytro without being expensive. I read of one kind that was in the $30 range but I have no source for one locally so I don't know how big it is and if it would work on the nytro.

Got my belt guard and saver from Nitris223. I told him it's almost a shame that it's out of site it's so nice. Great guy to deal and talk with.
Thanks again

PM Nitris223 I'll tell what it costs without one. Either a new upper or lower panel.
