Blown out header

A buddy of mine rides a 2014 viper. No real issues so far after 4000 miles until yesterday something was wrong and there was about a 3x3 inch square hole broken off from the header. An inch or so below where the 3 pipes come together. It was wide open and the piece has dropped down below. Has anyone seen this before?

He comes from an XF Cat that would eat belts, so he bought a Viper.

mine cracked and a couple of others have too. seems to be more relevant on the turbo sleds. it is covered under warranty.

Yup broke mine too on a boosted viper.
