trying to figure out boost controller. i have a turbo smart. pressure come in boost port. and top port goes to the wastgate. now i took it apart when the boost is at the min. the valvue is closed. and to add boost you open the valvue. now the wastgate takes pressure to open why would the boost controller give no pressure to wastgate for low boost. wouldent you want the valvue to be fully open for low boost and pintch off pressure by closeing the valvue for more boost. can anyone clear this up for me. would be a great help thanks
Fully open controller give you the WasteGate's base boost level. Closing the valve will allow less pressure to reach the WG bell causing the WG to open less the more you close the valve (or the more you raise the preload of the spring if it's a ball and spring controller) Fully closed the controller will not let any pressure over to the WG bell and the WG will not open at all running the turbo at max boost, not good.
