ok so I've decided to boost my phazer over the summer. but I'm not sure which company to go with. a few peeps have the MCX system, but I've also heard of a few other companys making a turbo kit. has anybody ever heard of synergy forced induction? heres a link http://www.goturbo.ca/products/phazer/index.htm
also alpine turbos is suppsed to have a side mount turbo good for 165 hp on pump gas. and boondocker is supposed to be coming out with a side mount turbo.
so i guess my ?'s are which would you go with? are the people who have the MCX pleased with the upgrade in performance it offerd??
and how hard is it to extend the skid to a 136" ?? of course I will also be adding the free ride track.
I know i asked alot of ??'s here but any help would be great

I am really good buddys with the owner and Turbo kit designer at synergy and there kit works wicked. They have changed there intercooler now and it looks way better also they are working on a mid mount for the phazer .

Ok heres a question, looking at the MPI supercharger
Why does it use an intercooler?
http://www.mountainperformance.com/phaz ... 20pics.htm
I understand the use of an intercooler
and that compressing air causes slight heating.
But unlike a Turbo, its not using exhaust gases(heat source)
So? I love the clean look of the MPI, they claim
no motor modifications needed and runs on pump gas...

THe turbo uses exhaust gas to power the fan or compressor that then compresses the air, the heated air going to your engine in both cases ( super charger and turbo) is from the compression and is NOT little. Turbo's do not put the oxygen poor hot exhaust gas back into the motor.
The heat issues are more complex in a turbo because of the complex exhaust manifolds and pipes often still under the hood will increase the underhood temperatures where as the super charger pully slystem does not.
The whole issue is more molecules of oxygen, 1 liter of cold air is denser and therefore has more oxygen than a liter of warmer air. Nitrous has more Oxygen than simple air, again more oxygen.
Hope that helps

On average every pound you increase pressure you can expect a minimum 11 degree increase, so 10 psi boost will be at least 110 above ambient air temps regardless of turbo or supercharger.
More tempurature rise can be expected when running a turbo or supercharger in the upper limits of it's intended turbine speed.
I have seen temprature rises as high as 20 degrees per pound in the upper boost ranges, again when running a turbo or supercharger much higher boost than intended.

You can go with the only system (turbo) that has seen a season in ocnsumers hands (MCX) or most likely be one of the first to test a new system that may be better. I had no prior turbo experience, but installed the MCX on my wifes phazer this last feburary. WOW
There may be a better kit, but I can't tell you where the MCX is lacking anything and it has a proven track record. If MPI had a SC kit truely available last season when promised the third time I would have tried it.

The Boondocker kit (sidemount) has been changed to fit with the reverse and is available now, several phazers have already been installed and have been run up to 24lbs boost. This will really wake up the Phazer and make it a fun sled to ride!
