I know this has been beat to death....I did a search and read some conflicting stories......
What is the proper BOV setup? Open at idle( approx 6"hg)
I have a rear mnt mcx with the BOV on the side of the intercooler and a malipassi dual spring as a second on the intake side of the intercooler.....anyone else run this one?
The one that comes on the intercooler I am not conviced its even opening....how could you check if it is?

Thanks in advance

you should be able to hear it dump when you chop the throttle fast. Personally I run mine closed at idle with very little spring pressure holding it closed and I hear it dumping on throttle position changes

so the bottom part closes at a certian psi, but is open under boost? Then when it see a vacuum the top opens and the bottom closes when it reaches a certain psi........Is ths a good BOV?

Bypass/Blow off vavles should be open any time there is Vacuum Present in the Carb boots.

Boost pressure will seal the Bypass/blow off valve.

I recommend the lightest spring you can get about 1.5 in.Hg

Of all the Bypass/blow off valves I have tested the Vortech Race Bypass is superior.

Ted.

anyone know if they make smaller springs for the bov I have?

Just cut your existing spring shorter to weaken the spring. Cut a little at a time to get the performance that you want. you can stretch the spring out if you have to so it will act upon the poppet.

whats the purpose of the poppet(lower seal spring I assume)?

Not seeing all sides of the whole valve, id' say it is a two-stage blowoff valve. This would allow for a more consistent or linear performance.

would it work better to take the bottom spring and seat out and set the upper spring so at idle it would be open? I was testing it in the shop I rigged up a air supply with a tee and a hose going to the top of the bov.....seemed to work without the bottom seat and spring.....make it a single stage I guess

I would try weakening the upper spring first before going single stage.
