Just a question for those who have done the MotoMan technique or something similar to break in their sleds: I just read the how to on the MotoMan technique and he recommends changing the oil after the first 20 miles. Have any of you changed the oil that soon? Or have you still waited until the 600 mile mark? This is first new engine I have had on anything and I want to get this right!

Anyone who does the Yamaha Method is crazy!!!! Ride it like you stole it. the key is to not over heat it. Ride it hard and keep it cool and you will have a solid motor!!!!

Agreed... Really, you only have to run it slow for about 25miles. After that giver....

I just purcahsed a 2009 FX Nytro at the end of last season that a dealer had left over. I see on this post that guys are saying this thing will do over 110MPH on GPS. Are these numbers real? I didn't think this thing would barely top 100MPH.
Here's hoping that you are all accurate and that I had no clue so I can be pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to try it out!

That's the XTX they are referring too, not the 121" Nytro.

Does the XTX have a different engine or something. I would think with the longer track that if it had the same engine and HP then it would be slower because fo the weight on the longer skid.
Anyway, at least I won't be dis-appointed if it gets to 100MPH.

Different skid, with less approach angle on the skid which provides more top end.

My rtx will do about 100mph, in good conditions. But its quick, which is all I care about.

I did 15min warm up....esay for the first few miles and then on and off the flipper for the next 300miles...lots of full throtle runs....just don't hold a steady RPM...works for me my sleds are always fast!!!
114mph GPS STOCK, stock suspension stock everything and I'm 265lbs....not many stock Nytros can do that...also original sliders and belt

The engineers at yamaha are pretty smart believe it or not. So if they say to change at 500, thats probably what they tested and feel is best. No offense but i would listen to someone that has done lab tests on this rather then regular people that think their way is the best way, and every person you ask is going to give you a different answer. If you want to get it "right" you cant go wrong listening to what the manual says. But if you feel you need to change after the first 20 miles are whatever, its probably not going to hurt, just not necessary.. I cut my filter open after changing at 500, and it was super clean being the break-in filter. Even though i will change filter every year, I wouldn't be scared to leave it in for the crazy long time that yam recommends..
