The cable that runs from the adjustment knob on the side of the tunnel
to the shock got pulled out and twisted off by ice build up in the suspension ( I think )
I know this cable just pushes into the shock.
Can it be replaced in the turnknob mechanism?
If so, is it easy to fix?

Mine was broke out of connector both ends too. Replacement cable can be ordered from Yamaha. Threaded connectors both ends, should be able to install with skid still in sled.

You dont need to drop the skid its wicked easy, best is to bring it into a heated garage so all the stupid ice gets out of your way, but either way its only a 10min job tops.

I replaced mine about a month ago. It's not too hard, depending on the size of your hands I guess.
The turning adjustment 'knob' comes off easily with three allen bolts which will make it easier to access as well. I suggest putting plastic cable ties over the rubber that covers the threaded connectors on each end to help hold them in place.
*as a side note, Yamaha is replacing these under warranty if you have warranty, as they are defective. Yamaha Canada isn't advertising this, so I think you have to ask. The old and new look the same but the actual cable and cable covering is different on the new ones. I brought my Attak up from the US so no warranty. It cost around $100 here for the replacement.
*as for maintenance I would suggest occasionally looking under there and chipping off the ice build up.

I have also fixed mine a couple of times. Sometimes it just splits and separates the cable outer rubber sheave, leaving the adjusting cable intact. If this is the case you can get some heat shrink tubing with the glue inside of it and repair the outer casing. The heat shrink is available at any electrical store and it saves buying a whole new cable!

My RA cable has broken twice in four years. Last time, it was replaced with the new, heavier duty cable that's about twice as thick as the original. Twice the price, too, at $97 USA! I haven't stuck my head under there to see if it has survived the last 1,000 miles.

I took my old cable to a speedometer shop and had one made. $6.00
They used an ultra flex outer case that has really held up, threaded caps both ends.
