I hit a rock with the left side of the sled and it cracked the bulkhead on the lower control arm. also bent up the A arms and possibly the spindle that holds the ski on. I hear that now would be a good time to upgrade my a arms to lighter ones that would break before my bulkhead would again. so what are good a arms that would break thats arn't too expensive. Also my dealer wants 3500 bucks total to fix the sled that seemed a little high even for a bulkhead replacement. I am a good mechanic at least for a backyard man so how would I go about doing the job myself? and do I need to pull the engine or can I do it without that. There was a post in my searches that had someone who said they did it without pulling the motor. Anyone who knows anything about this I would really appriciate there feedback!!

Just pull all the plastic off the front and replace the bulkhead. Your dealer is a ripoff.

bulkhead
I replace my front right bulkhead without removing the motor.
But, if I did it over again, I'd bring it to fixpowersports in Byron, MN to have it fixed. He said it would cost $1200 to do the work that ended up costing me 500 in parts.
Look for bulkheads and A-arms in the classifieds or you'll be paying through the nose like I did.
And if you tackle this yourself be very carefull when drilling out the rivets on the left side by the water pump. The rivets hold the bulkheads to the "Frame". If you drill into the waterpump then you'll have to pull the engine to replace the water pump cover (I did that!!)

PS: Have a mechanic do it and target $1000 or less, buy the big parts first (Bulkhead + A-arms) then just pay for the labor.

I don't know about the bulk head replacement aspect but do have an idea of the cost for bent front end parts. I hit a rock and it cost me $1000 to fix doing all the work myself. You probably didn't bend the spindle (at least I didn't) but, the cast alluminum sterring knuckle($170+) will be bent (if not cracked). The a-arms, steering knuckle, bolts through the bulkhead, all bushings and the steering knuckle bolts will need replaced along with your bulkhead.
All of the bolts were bent to the point of requiring a hack saw to remove the bent a-arms. As for a-arm cost, I went with the light MPI a-arms for I think $379. It was only about $100 more for the set than one side for the stock a-arms.

I just changed mine. You do not need to pull the motor. It took me 1 day in the shop and that included changing the steering gate, both sides of the front cast bulkhead, L&R suspension, swaybar etc.
Its a pain in the butt, straight forward though.
look on e-bay for bulkhead parts, thats were I found mine

Save the money you would have spent at the dealer and get some cool parts and tools , Pneumatic rivet gun being the first cool tool that comes to mind , youll be doing lots of riveting..........
