Broke my exup cable on my 2011 apex doing the valve adjustment procedure. The cable was really brittle at the valve end and snapped flush with the end boss. When I began the calibration sequence the servo motor pulled the valve fully clockwise and then heard a snap. I had not done any adjustments at this point. Just letting guys know that it happens I guess as they get older the cables can fail. Of course this happens the night before a planned trip.

I ride mine at last weekends TY ride with a broken cable. Tightened the remaining cable to keep the valve tilted forward. Ran fine a got 13-14 mpg. No discernible loss of power either. I ordered 2 new cables though lol. Mine broke the same way!

so I am not alone. I ordered the two cables as well from a dealer on the way to my destination and will change them on the fly prior to riding. I cant believe all the dealers I called in my moment of panic said they have never had one fail. My last resort if for some reason I don't get them will be to ride with the exup locked in the open position. I am relieved to hear that it did not affect your sled that much.

There were only 2 of each here in the entire US!!! Mine were BADLY corroded. Guess they'll have to be a every 2 yr. maintenance item.

checked mine with 7100KM and while adjusting i had a cable starting to come apart. glad i checked them. I'm going to replace both cables and add ant-sieze to everything when i put it back together. Hope i don't have to wait too long.

there are two different part numbers for the cables as mentioned in the above post. They are shown as cable 1 and cable 2 and they are both around $45 each canadian. One is a little longer than the other. Very simple to change out and adjust if you watch the video in the FAQ section.

i ordered both cables so i will replace both since i have it apart. the video is good but there really isn't anything mentioned about slack on the cables.if they are too tight they will break just like the cables on the SRX power valve. the shop manual mentions that they can be misaligned by 2mm. i'm assuming then that there should be some slack. does anyone know for sure about the slack.
alright. my dealer just called me and the cables are in. ordered them yesterday morning, only 24 hours ago, great sevice

8500kms on mine and I did the adjustment at 7300, everything looked fine except the bolts for the cover were seized as usual. Had to replace those. Antiseize on the new bolts!
