I made the mistake of getting my feet wet boondocking in Colorado! I was on a 146 skidoo summit, but still loved it! LOL

I have a Viper ltx now and absolutely love it, but am scarred I will be disappointed if I take it west.

I'm looking into a Sidewinder for next year. My dilemma now is which model to get. I absolutely love speed and tearing up twisty trails. This is where I will spend 75% of my time. Will I be happy with a btx on the trail??? I've read every thread reguarding the btx, and not a whole lot of info on them really. I see the front has much less travel than the xtx. Will the 2.25 track be a mistake on the trail?

My friend has a XTX Viper, and the ride is pretty close to my LTX, but what about the XTX out west???
And one step farther....if you say the XTX will be fine out west, what about the LTX?

Thanks guys!!!

How much time do you think you will be going out west? Where do you do most of your trail riding, will there be enough snow for the deeper lug track?

I was looking at buying the BTX for plans to go out west more often. After discussing it further I decided that my trips would more consist of locally and to the UP and a trip out west per season. So I ended up going with the XTX 141 1.6lug. I'm coming off of an extended 136" 1.5lug phazer. So the power I felt on the SW was indescribable. I ridden about 88 miles on poor to fair trails with good hook up and corners good. I really haven't been in deep snow yet with it let alone out west. But from what I've been told and read it is capable of going out west with it.

Really I'm just a lover of black and orange so that was a big selling point for me too haha

I don't know how much time will be out west...I may go one more time and get my fill, or I might say no more central/eastern and stay out west lol. Most of my miles have been in the UP, but starting to explore other options. Probably hit Maine next year.

For off trail, would a 153 1.75 be better than a 141 2.25? I'm thinking the flotation out weighs the lug height...

I definitely would agree with the 1.75 over the 2.25 I have the BTX LE with a 153x2.25 and off trail it's great, on trail it has surprised me, but I am finding that I am doing more trail rideing then I anticipated when I purchased the sled so therefore I'm im looking at switching to the 1.75 track and keep the 2.25 in the event of when I go out west and really need the lug. My opinion would be a xtx with the ability to always get a bigger track if needed

I have a BTX LE and do lots of fast trail riding the 2.25 is to tall it just folds over and spins like crazy I cut mine down to 1.75 and it transfers and pulls like crazy now you won't be happy with a 2.25 for fast trail running I swapped to a 2.5 for out west. In my opinion you need 2 tracks I picked up my 2.5 like new used and put it on once a year. I ride with mostly 800 Polaris pros and axys 137s and they can't keep up to the winder with pilot skis.

I have the BTX SE with the 153" 1.75 Back Country track, and cannot say enough good things about the combo! I've yet to have it in neck+ deep powder, but seems to handle the hip deep stuff with ease. On trail it really hooks up (best way to get all that turbo power to the ground!) and seems to be the max lug height you would want to run if you do much trail riding. I typically ride in MN (land o' trails, ditches, drifts) and the UP (trails to get to untracked), and long for/love off-trail wherever I can get it (legally). I'm sure this track would do great out west on occasion, if ALL your riding is out west then get the MTX with the 153" 2.6 (or larger).

The BTX is nice as it has the Mountain spindles (narrower for sidehilling, trees, etc) but 40" stance (adjustable from 38.5 to 42.5)! The mountain seat on BTX is definitely a big plus over the XTX seat which sits lower (too low!). The BTX handles great on the trails and goes everywhere off trail with confidence. I was originally planning to get the XTX, but am so happy I opted for the BTX instead!

Other than the overheating issues and now blown motor (has to be a lemon), I've been totally happy with my purchase!
