I just came across a mint 2006 APEX GT with extremely low miles. I have another 2006 GT that has served me well since new and it has about 16000 but runs great. Has a lot of mods ect. I was thinking about turning the recent purchase into a 136 or 144 long track. I am sure this has been done before. Anyone have pictures or info on the best place to buy the needed parts?

I have no pics but offer 2 different solutions. The first is to go the factory route and replace all the needed suspension/skidframe components with Yammi components from a long track model. Sourcing the parts from either a dealer (the really expensive route) or from a bone yard or wrecked sled (provided the needed parts are undamaged of course).

The second but, easiest and least expensive route is to purchase an extension kit from an aftermarket supplier like Tracks USA. They're kits come with a track and needed components. Probably not as elegant of a solution as a factory setup but, still a very good option.

I'm considering the 128 kit for my 06 GT.

I would do as Macheater first suggestion. Get a longer skid and mounts to stretch out the sled. As per factory design this works much better than adding length to the existing skid. Been ther done that.
My experience:
The Pro Action (No Action) 121 geometry is not meant to work well when altered longer
Stretched my o2 Viper to a 136. The kits that I got were excellent. Everything fit well and the instruction were very comprehensive.
I think for a drag racer or mtn climber they may work well but for an every day trail rider I found it not so good. Took me a full season of tuning the suspension just to get the sled to turn in the trails.
Loved the length for bridging the bumps but the change in the geometry in the skid made it difficult to tune in the ride. Poured in a lot of money into the frontend ( skis and carbides) before the sled was comfortable and predictable again.

Having said this I do believe the pivots on a 121 mono and 136 mono are the same. In theory simply adding an ext kit should work.
Most kits I found when doing my Viper always supplied a 144 tunnel ext. Even tho the kits were for a 136 the tunnel ext was capable of 144.

Browse around in the Mod Results or 4 Stroke Garage forums. Usually lots of good write ups and pics of these kind of things.

Here are pics of my GT I did the Tracks USA and absolutely love it. I went with the 1.5 intense track, that thing hooks great! I'd do it again.
