Have an 06 apex 121'' wanting to turn into a mountain sled with a 155 plus 2.5'' track. What do I need to do or should i look for a mtx apex instead? Would really like to use my sled though.

it can be done but you would need a donor skid as the mono does not like being longer than 136 from what i hear.

2.52 8 tooth drivers or ones to match a used track as some of them are 3 pitch. tunnel extension from hartman or some one else. and a skid. i helped brother do this almost 4 years ago to an 04 rx war that we used a nitro 153 on with a set back and exensions but ended up putting it back in stock location with a 151" 1-1/4" ripsaw using muffinworks custom extensions after he destroyed the nitro track in one season.

If I picked up a mtn skid would it bolt in to the same holes on tunnel as the mono does?

might be only the front mount would be the same. you would need measurements and possibly mounts from the donor sled to make it work correctly.

You need drivers and track (the apex MTX uses 3" pitch track and drivers, the trail version you have uses 2.52" pitch drivers and larger drivers so the shorter lug tracks work)
A suspension in the length you want, can be from any make really you will have to measure and mount the suspension with custom new holes drilled in the side.
Cut off the stud guards welded to the front heat exchanger
Remove the stud guards in the tunnel
Regear it to MTX specs to help spin the larger track
Re clutch it for the new gearing, load of track
Add a tunnel extension from someone like Hartman Inc
Replace wide trail A arms front suspension with narrower MTX version if you want to be able to carve or maneuver in deep snow this includes the shocks they are 1" shorter on a MTX
Wire up new taillight on back of extension if you care about that the one in the seat may not be long enough
Install deflectors on muffler to point exhaust out to sides of sled rather then just right on your new tunnel extension
Install larger bar riser to accommodate stand up riding

Thats it :)

Some thing like this.

yes now just have to start looking for parts. If anyone is parting out a mountain sled let me know

check the classifieds as some one had a bunch of stuff from mtx sleds up on there.
