We will see this weekend, going for a 4 day trip a 1ft of snow 2morow were I'm going so hopefully we will be putting on 1000miles. I'm gonna make sure it is filled to the top and check it at the end of everyday.
I haven't read the posts in detail but I am curious what brand of oil your using?
I know of one brand where people(including myself) have had consumption issues using it, when the brand was switched the consumption issues stopped.
Do tell!

Not looking to start a debate, battle or anything close to that, just stating my findings when I tried to run it in my Grizzly and Pick-up truck.
After a lot of quesions with no real answers, I did a search and found out I was the only one who had issues running it.
I think it is a small percentage who do have issues and that is confusing, as some run it and have run it for years with no issues?
Here is one link from one site but there are others.

Make sure you let it warm up for 15 minites before checking oil each time. If you check oil after only 5 minites you will get a low reading and if you fill it up then it will burn it off again.

My 03 RX1 would burn a half a qt every 500 miles or so (the 03's were known for this) the apex motors are not known for oil burning, but it could be. Try the ring free shock treatment and then give it and oil change and try that. Also check the oil tank for any signs of leaks.
If all else fails you MAY need new rings, but you can buy ALOT of oil for the price of a ring job.

That's the truth.....it's due to snow digestion.....the stealth air box makes this even worse. If a guy or gal is on top of this and thaws it out it isn't as bad. I got rid of the stealth air box and went to ram air, check the filter ever ride and BINGO!!!!!! I don't use oil anymore.

Like I said guys I take care of this thing like its my kid. I clean the air filter almost every other ride. And its never even dirty. I use the K&N Filter cleaning soap it works awesome. I just got back from my trip we put about 600 miles on and I had to add about half a quart. This sucks, I finally got my sled dialed in and I got this on the back of my mind.
