Guys,
I've read the rules on leaving buyer/seller feedback, and I'm ok with the consequences, because I believe people should know if a deal doesn't follow through 100%. Anyway, here goes. I made a deal with a new ty4stroke member, rcguy, a little under a month ago on a set of Float X shocks that were in the classifieds (post was deleted btw). His ad stated that the shocks were "mint" with only 400 kms use on them, so we came to an agreement and made a deal. I traded my mint stock Float shocks plus cash for his, believing that we were being totally honest with each other. When his shocks arrived, I instantly noticed that the large Fox decals were badly peeling off the main chambers, and one of the rebound clickers was very difficult to read because the writing was worn off. This led me to believe that these were not used as little as stated. So, I contacted him via pm, asked several questions, and said that I was expecting "mint" shocks, not 7/10 condition shocks. I also mentioned that I was going to order new decals to replace the ones falling off, and was hoping he would offer to cover the costs, in which he replied "let me know what Fox says". $35 later, I sent him a pm last week, and another a few days ago, following up as I said I would, and all I hear is crickets. It's not a huge deal breaker for me, because the shocks seem to work fine, but it's the principle that I believe in. When I advertise an item, I am honest and willing to help if something arises later on. I just think that being honest is the only way to be. So, as the story goes, pay your money, take your chances ! I just wanted to remind everyone that when dealing with items advertised in the classifieds, especially from new members having few posts on the forum, you're taking a chance. I also believe we should have a buyer/seller feedback section on here as well, because it could help someone better decide on a transaction. Last, I am in no way holding anyone but myself and rcguy responsible for the outcome of this transaction, as I wouldn't have started this thread if everything went smooth.
Thank You,
Dave

I will take no side in regards to this situation. Pics go a long way. When spending/sending any monies I demand a full set of pics. One persons idea of fair or good condition may differ but, mint is mint. Just my 2 cents. Happy Holidays!!

I agree, and I'm not looking for anyone to take sides, but like you said, mint is mint, and these were not, although he assured me that they were. I took his word on it, assuming that like myself, he would stand by his word. It's unfortunate that in todays day, a lot of folks out there can't show some dignity and stand up for their own actions, but instead, just shove it in a corner and hope it goes away. Personally, I call them cowards. Just telling the truth on my experience.

Buyer / seller feedback is a great thing, and the way to go, it should be on this site ASAP, IMO.

I agree. It helps by providing confidence in transactions for good buyers/sellers and weeds out the poor buyers/sellers from possibly ripping someone off. In my case, rcguy removed his ad shortly after I pm'd him about the issues I noticed, so I wasn't able to reply and leave feedback. And I know he received ALL my pms because they were out of my outbox within minutes of sending them. A friendly heads-up, he has other items for sale in the classifieds, so take note and look elsewhere.

this may work but could also back fire on those that did sell it honestly....The way I see it is that all users should give a money back guarantee then everyone would be happy or better yet, only open classifieds to VIP members

If we want to shape up the classified section, how about we start by deleting all the SOLD posts, or instruct the sellers to go back and edit there first and last posts when item is sold or removed....seems like 1/2 the F/S are old and sold....just sayin....$.02

I didn't start this thread meaning to say the classifieds needed an overhaul, I just wanted to add that a buyer/seller feedback section would be a great addition to the site by portraying it with my experience as an example. I think for the most part, guys follow up and update their ads accordingly, and the mods do a great job in editing as well, but there will always be some that sneak past and are missed. I just don't think there are enough volunteers to take care of them all unless it were a paid full time job, especially considering we should be responsible enough to do it ourselves.

You got my vote! If you want to advertise / use the classified's on TY become a paying member. We all know these are the guys who support this site and would not want to jeopardize their reputation....Hopefully!

i like this idea, and it works on other sites pretty well. as for the backfire i guess that's a chance you have to take but if your buying because of good feedback you should "not" have to worry.
