Hello all. As the title says i'm buying my 1st sled. at the moment im torn between the ski-doo xp 800 and the Yamaha Nytro. I'm a Yamaha guy,as all of my quads and dirt bikes have always been. Even my audio equipment..lol. My brother just bought the 09 e-tech and i like it but the power band feels alittle narrow, and the fit and finish doesn't seem to be on par with products that i have had from yammi.
I'd say that my riding will be split between trail and off trail. I am not a top speed guy, couldn't care if i couldn't get past 90 as long as it pulled all the way there. I'm also a bigger guy and don;t think i'll have too much trouble with the extra weight of the Nytro.
So if you guys where buying again now, would you make the same choice again??? Thanks for any time or advice. Jack

Hey you have to buy an XTX. It would be the perfect fit for you. I know there is always a urge to look at ski-doo but for what you want you would kick yourself in the butt later not getting a nytro. I waited 6 years for this sled and I love it. Bullet proof, style, grace and power till 90mph. From your discription it would be a no brainer

I agree with Kane!
Im picking up an XTX tomorrow, and from what miles I got to put on one(about 50,thanks to OnlyBlue), I think it will be a great choice!! Everything that it sounds like you are looking for!
Suspension setup will be key, from what I gather from all the posts. After you get it dialed in, you'll love it. I cant wait!!!!!!!

Would I buy another one.............YES. I loved my Apex but this sled is more fun, more like a four stroke F7 if you have ever ridden a cat. I let my brother drive mine and he sold his F7's and bought a 08 Nytro. He has always driven cats and so did I. He gave me crap when I had my 03 RX-1 and had to put a cat suspension in it. He liked my Apex GT and wished he bought it when I sold it. One ride on the Nytro and it finally pushed him over to go out and get one. Sure looks nice out in my shop now with two Nytro's in it, a blue one and a white and yellow one.............

Thank you for all the help so far. If i do go with the Nytro which suspension set up is known to be the best. The fox's, yammi piggy backs??? i'm sure that i will end up with after market shocks at some point but would like to get the best set up i can from the get go....

no problem dave, glad to see ur coming to the 4 stroke side, now get wingnut riding ur viper and bye bye doo....
for sure the XTX is what u want. My wife has one, and I ride it as often as possible, i have an attak, and dont get me wrong I love it too, but the xtx is possibly the best all around sled i have ridden. You do give up a little power and smoothness to the attak, but overall it rocks.... best part is, there are 09s out there for big discounts, with very little changes for 10, go find a leftover....
if we knew where u were from, someone could suggest a dealer, if in MI, i know my dealer in Alpena had a blue one on the floor last time i was in.

Yep, definitely do it bud! Get yourself a Nytro! I have never ever had so much fun with a sled, this thing is an absolute HOOT to ride! There is not a waking moment this winter that I haven't wished that I was out on my sled!! Pulls like a freight train, ergos are awesome and it's a lot of fun to throw around! As far as what type of suspension to go with it would all depend on what type of riding you do. If your riding is split between trail and off trail then I would suggest the XTX, but if you like to ride serious moguls or catch some big air then you might be better suited to an RTX or an RTX SE if there are any left at all!

You will not be disappointed in the XTX at all. Plus it already comes with a pretty good shock package. Read the manual for setting up the suspension, then tweak from there. You will very happy.
Welcome to the right side. I rode a e-tech demo last year, was ok but not the 4 stroke I have become accustomed to.
Plus the Iron Dog boys said that the Doo mileage was way short of what it was supposed to be. Yammi's were the only ones not carrying extra gas cans.

Going against the tide, but I have two XTXs and will likely put them for sale and switch to Renegades in the next couple of days. I've struggled to like the XTXs but I'm tired of spending time and money to try to make them work as good as a Renegade, which they don't. It's time to cut my losses and start having fun again.

Buy the XTX. I hear what StewartB is saying with a comparison to the XP chassis from Doo- it does ride and handle better, and the riding position is a little better, but the motors are my issue with Doo. When people ask me about my Yammi on the trail, I just tell them- "If you like to ride, buy a yammi- if you like to wrench, buy a doo". I have ridden an 800XP 'gade side by side with my XTX and it was a really nice sled, but the guy has already been into the dealer twice this winter with smoked pistons. I don't care how good the chassis handles- if the sled's always in the shop with motor problems, it doesn't matter. Just my .02$

I agree with northerndoc, you can not beat the 4stroke for reliability and overall cost of operation. My 05 Vector is in the shop for the first time since new. I keep hearing horror stories of guys with their Doo's and back to the shop. Fit and fisnish is sub par in my book. Cracking bulkheads, computer updates.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Just got back from the dealer. Sat on the Nytro for the first time. Have to sat it is better looking in person. Anyway, they had the xp right next to it and i got to do a nice comp. I really think the nitro is for me but i's like to get a little seat time in before i part with my money. Does anyone know where i could demo 1. The dealer said he thought Yamaha was going to be up in old forge N.Y in March. Does anyone know if this true? I'm located on Long Island so i'd more then willing to take the trip up there.

I just got back from the dealer, too. I bought two Renegades. They'll suit us better then the XTXs. I have no criticism of Yamaha or the XTX. It just hasn't been a good fit. Problem solved. Well, it will be when I sell the XTXs!
Best of luck guys. Ride safe.
