After 2 seasons on My 2002 Mountain Max, I'm in the market for a another sled, I got my eyes on a 2003 RX-1 MTN, I know it's a fair bit of extra weight but I throw sleds around in powder pretty well. My main reason for making the switch is I need a sled with reverse , I got serious lower back issues and lifting the sled off the truck everyday, has to come to an end.
The 2003 Rx-1 has 3000km on it,
dosent look too abused in the pic's.
looks stock but roller seconary clutch.
144 tack.
just wondering what area's i should look for as far as damage or wear on rx1 MTN? any known common issues, or heads up i should be aware of?

(I keep my engine alot cleaner that this but what ever, I plan to clean it up)
Comment away please!!!
I love my Mountain Max 700, and i plan on keeping it.
but how solid are these machines? from stock how many km do they usually start to have engine issues at? ( I heard the engine out lasts the chasis )

Stock the RX1M came with a 151" track.
It looks like the rear cooler is on there - that is a good thing (They did not come from the factory with that).
Mine was solid for the 5000 or so miles that I put on it before I sold it. No engine issues at all.
Things I would look at doing if you buy it - transfer kit on the rear skid, extrovert drivers, wider skis (powder pro or 2005 or newer Yamaha mountain skis).

That is most likely a 151 track. Check for wires rubbing on the front of the sled, arcing in between the coils check in the dark. Speedo and clutch side bearings pull the seals and regrease. Get wider skis for sure.

Ya, I'd say that is a 151"track. Nice sled. I have that identical skid in my Mt Viper. If you ride really deep stuff, MPI sells a transfer enhancement kit --you remove the rear transfer (stopping) rods in the back and the kit supplies belting material you re- install there. Allows for more transfer snd better deep snow performance. They do work. But only do this if your sled becomes a dedicated off trail sled for deep powder. If you ride trails also, your sled will ride like crap on trails if you remove the transfer rods; gets really squirrely to ride. Been there done that.

i think your right, I think the owner is wrong, he dosent seem to know much about it, I really apreciate that feedback as i dont know the RX-1 or the four-stroke engine at all yet. Thanks for giving me an idea of what to start looking for.
