Any info on Cable, WI? Have a trip booked for the 25th-28th and are comting a long way. Need to know if it's worth it or to cancel. Don't want to get there only to find out the sleds will have to stay on the trailer. Would like an honest report. Thanks in advance.

Last week I had a couple buddies head there and said that really the only thing rideable was the Lakes. Said the trails were very thin to no snow but i think they did get some more snow from this recent snowfall.

Thanks for the repy. That's what I'm worried about. I did hear they had got about 8" last Thu/Fri, but also heard the traffic was very heavy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Still 6 days left before we're supposed to leave.

if i was you i wouldnt waste my time in hayward. they had like 1 foot of bad snow and trails looked like crap. cable looked the same. we went to ironwood last weekend and the trails were great. 11n was bad and looked like is has not been groomed in a wile. but all of the other trails we were on were good to go. thats where i would go and im going back in 2 weeks.

If the reservations weren't made and didn't have to worry about losing the deposit $, I'd probably be scrapping the trip. I have read a couple reports today, including one from a guy whom lives in the area, stating with this new snowfall the conditions have been upgraded. Leaving Weds and hope this info is correct. I watched the radar from last night throughout the day to day and it showed snow throughout. Not sure how much, but if there was any type of base left before it started, it should make for ok conditions.

Just got back yesterday. Trails were better then I thought they would be. Fire Roads are awesome. Lot of snirt and rocks but still plenty decent they are grooming. Its not excellent but poor to fair, some spots were mint. We went north and east of hayward and it was decent. Fire roads heading to Barnes and up to iron river are mint. Lakes are all good, flowage is good.
Have fun!

Our Cable experience
Sorry, I don't want to do any bad mouthing, but we were very disappointed with the trails in the Namakagon area and Ashland Co. We put on 160 miles on Thurs and were so shot the next day we only went 50. Our trip took us from Lk Namakagon to Mellen, Glidden, Butternut, Clam Lk, and back. There was plenty of snow to work with. So, I'm not sure why there was such a lack of grooming. We purposely took the vacation during the week to get the best trails possible. And for those that want to say we don't know what we're talking about, some of us in our group do grooming for a different county/club. We were in Price Co for a short portion of the ride and it was good. They appear to maintain their trails nicely. Too bad this was the shortest part of the ride that day.
The next day we went to Spider Lk and this was a nicer ride. Sat. we headed toward Golden Rule (poor showing for a radar run, I might add), which took us on some flowages. This trip was probably the best of all, especially for a Sat. The only poor trails were right off of Lk Namakagon past Lakewoods. The fire roads were flat of course. I'm glad we decided to not listen to all of the poor reports for Hayward. Hats off to Sawyer Co for well maintaining their trails. They salvaged the trip for us.
I can say that every place we went to, minus one, were very hospitable and we had a great time at. Even though we stayed in a cabin with all the amenities, we still patronaged the local establishments and were treated well. Thanks also to every one here for the info. It is very helpful when planning a trip, especially when reservations, vacation, and $ deposits are involved.
For the person asking about risking a trip this weekend. I wouldn't worry about the warm weather, as long as there is no rain. If the groomers take care of the trails, you will still have good riding. Have fun.

Thanks for the updates. I would be happy with OK conditions next week considering the weather, what a long winter looking at my snowmobile with all of 30 miles put on it.
