Cant believe i bought a grampa venture gt

you know what really sucks about owning this?? Nothing to read about on here about making it better, or faster or any aftermarket stuff. I already put on the simmons felx skis gen 2 on it and that all i can find. I would love to clutch it to be quicker but have no idea how the power is made. yamaha says its peak is in the midrange. If they gave it low end and midrange torque it should hold its own till at least 40 mph lol
another reason i think its cool is i am 280 pounds so i shouldnt have to recalibrate the skid lol

Lyle
Clutch it to come out at 8k rpm & climb to 8600 rpm. Nytro aftermarket clutch set up would be a good starting point & will get ya close.
Enjoy the geezer cruiser!!!!

lol i was waitiing for you to chime in chris, hey i am still playing with my vmax 4800 and my 02 srx 700. I am looking forward to having a granmpa sled to take kids out to cabin this year. was kinda hard on the boosted attak. Which by the way i might get to own old blue again superman. She has 7500 miles on now and buddy that owns it just got married so its been sitiing.

Lois is still not happy with Superman ;):D over letting that machine go. She thinks Superman's Nytro is a P.O.S. compared to the old Attak. Ah Women! At least its not a 2-up. LMAO.

I also liked the Venture GT when I rode it. Plush ride, very quiet, lots of wind protection. The problem is that it is such a long sled that it, number one, wouldn't fit on my trailer, and second, when that big baby starts hitting bigger bumps she starts pitching and rocking like a bucking bronco! I think I would be exhausted riding that thing on any conditions besides freshly groomed.

I started looking at the 1200 Ski Doo Grand Touring with its 136" track but now I am discouraged about that machine after the latest Sno Goer report on the 1-up GSX with the 4stroke.

I went from an 06 Attak to a 09 Nytro XTX and I do see things were done a little cheaper. Gauge, 1 button for hand and thumbwarmers, no 12volt plug standard, just not as solidly built. But, they are lighter and in my opinion 10x more fun to ride with my style of riding. If you think the Nytro is cheap don't look at a Phazer. I just bought one and it's another step down from the Nytro. I haven't ridden it yet but things are even cheaper on this sled. But on the other hand it is a entry level model at only 85 HP. My point is that you definitely can see a difference between all three of these snowmobiles in different price levels and what Yamaha has put into them.

Lyle,

You're my new hero. That Venture GT sounds sweet. I'm sure you're kids appreciated riding that boosted Attak on the way out to the cabin last year. I could just see your 'wee ones bouncing off the snow on the way there like little Gumbys rolling down the trail. That new Venture GT should be the hot set up.

I've got to get up there this year to ride your area. ;)!

i would absolutely love that don, would love to have you spend some days here. we have a good base here already. good 8 to 12 inches. problem is it was warm , well nor really cold anyway and stuff never froze very good and the slews are very thin, and we have alot of them this year. its a bif swamp. if you get bored look up a websight called stuckinthemuch its put of by flaman sales, i will try to post a link
