Just purchased a used 06 RTX and can't get screw out of chrome ring on handlebar riser, think it is crossed threaded. Nut underneath is spinning and can't get at. page 8-6 in owners manual. I reallize don't have to remove to take top cover off, but want to make is right. Can't find in parts catalog, any help appreciated. Tnks Jim
I had the same thing happen. Get to the under side with a pair of large pliers and squese the part holding the nut that is spinning.
After you get the screw out remove brass fitting that is not supposed to move and lock tight it back in.............. or even JB weld it in. I used red lock tight but have not tryed to remove the screw again.

PS-I think I had other parts off the sled that made the underside of the ring eaiser to get to. I was doing the handlebar upgrade.

Here is the link to the parts catalog for yamaha, you will just have to input the product line, year and model, then go to the Control Cable listing on the right hand side of the page and I think that you will find what you are looking for.
