The Allen head turns and does not screw back out, i
t feels as if the recieving nut in the plastic is spinning. Any salvagable options to get this off. This is on the chrome collar around the steering post.
I havent't tried to wedge something up in there, would have to be blind as it is inaccessable, can it be done ?
Any suggesstions.
thanks

If your carefull you can get the panel infront of it off without taking the chrome steering trim off. Not sure about fixing it, I've been taking mine off like this for 6 months now, lol.

Take your handle bars and riser off. This will allow the chrome plastic pc to come off. Now grab a pair of vise grips and lightly squeeze the plastic area around the brass insert. Take your screw out.
To prevent this from happening you can press the insert out(very carefully) and super glue the insert back in.
Also be gentil when you tighten the screw when putting everything back together. If you use a cordless drill like I did, it will strip out the plastic again.
Hope this helps

You don't need to take it off to remove the bodywork.

Had the same problem when I was changing the bars on my 06 Attak to the new style at the dealer.
We found that if we used the air power screwgun that we were able to spin the screw out. Couldn't get it out using the manual screwdriver.

Thanks guys, I think that will be a summer job.
Glad to hear I can get the panel off with the collar in place as I would like to drop my brights a little.
THanks

Mine stripped the first time I tried to remove them. When I did finally get them out, I drilled a small hole thru the plastic peice and the expandable nut near the very bottom, then put a cotter pin thru both of them. Now my new screws unthread easily.
