Look at attatched chart if the spring installed is a factory pink spring. It is the softest spring rate and preload available. Spring torsion rate is resistance or shift out to drop belt on sheave surface while causing quicker shift out. A stiffer spring torsion rate will shift out slower and hold rpm for powder type riding. Preload is for initial belt pressure for belt to grab sheave and not slip. Example if you have super quick shift out when you go to powder it will bog and getting ahead of power curve.
Tom Hartman recommended that a softer secondary spring be used in the Phazer. That depends on all factors included weight of rider, type of riding etc.
