First off I am a newbie, so bare with me. I have only been riding for about 6 months and was loving every minute on my 97 SRX mountain 151 track, until I bought a 2004 rx1 mountain, 151 track. Loved everything about the RX1 until i got it into some deep powder. I cant haul the damn thing over. It sits higher than my SRX and the ski stance is like 3 inches narrower, so I figured the powder would be a snap. It has mountain madd skis, which seem twitchy as hell on the trail. The front suspension has titanium springs but retained the stock adjustment. The rear suspension is stock and the shocks are set to the softest setting. A buddy of mine has the 2005 Rx1 and when i press on his rear suspension it is very easy to push down and pull up, lots of suspension travel. Mine feels like a rock, no play at all. I know they have different suspensions but mine is really stiff !!! I cant pull the sled over, am I crazy or what pls help. So I guess these are my questions.
Does the rear suspension play any role in turning the sled ??
If so does the 2004 rx1 have a poor rear suspension?
Would the titanium springs be causing this problem ?
Do the front springs have to be set softer because they are titanium?
Can you recomend the best rear skid and suspension for mountain riding?
The sled has a raised handle bar, does that not make the skis easier to turn ?

Yes. More transfer = more ski lift = easier to pull onto its side.BO4RE said:First off I am a newbie, so bare with me. Yep. Hardly any transfer. If so does the 2004 rx1 have a poor rear suspension?
The rear will have more to do with it than the front (does that make sense?)Would the titanium springs be causing this problem ?
Depends on what the rate is. Springs are available in different rates in every material. If its a stiffer spring, you might want to loosen it off more. Try loosening it off anyways, getting the ski pressure down will probably help with steering.Do the front springs have to be set softer because they are titanium?

Nope, but it does make it easier to lever the sled over on its side. The sled has a raised handle bar, does that not make the skis easier to turn ?

may want to post in mountain section. Those guys may note read here. Most Flatlanders are not real up on what adjustments are need for a mountain sled.

Lot of guys are going with arctic cat suspensions to improve on transfer but they do have a vibration, you can also go with a transfer enhancement kit from MPI for about $90.00 I think. It removes the rear transfer rods and improves the transfer on the Pro Action skid (cheaper than a new suspension). Try practicing this technique in some deep snow...when your moving in a forward motion, if you want the sled to go left, lean to the left with your body and turn your skis to the right. This gets your center of gravity where you need it to keep the sled on it's side. Continue to do this in a big sweeping circle. Try both ways. Let me know on your progress!
