I used atf in mine. It works great. I only used it because thats what was in my oil can. It probably doesn't matter too much what oil you use.

They attach on the hose barb on the engine side of the carb. They are pointing straight up. One has just a rubber cap on it and the other two have hoses hooked to them that run the fuel pumps i believe. Anyway, you need to unhook one of those hoses and hook up to two of the three nipples. The adjustments are made on the butterfly cross shaft. If you run your throttle you can see what moves. Two of the carbs have an adjustment screw on that shaft that turns that one up or down in relation to the others.

I actually found a very accurate way to sync them is to use about 10 or 12 feet of clear vinyl tubing running down and back up between two carbs with about 2 feet of oil in it. Then you are actually measuring the true vacuum from one cylinder against the other instead of tube against tube like a manometer. And it is way cheap. I spent about 3 dollars building one.

What's the size of your manometer tubing (I.D.)? It looks as though you have some type of reducer on @ the ends.

The tubing is 3/16 and the ends are just slipped on there because the hose barbs on the sled are more like 1/4 so I use the bigger more flexible black rubber hose to hook up to the sled. Those are just slipped on the end. You can use the same size for the whole thing if you want. I just used what i had.

thanks for the info, so if a guy is going to make up a homemade manometer, 1/4 is the size of tubing needed, right?

...just go with the 1/4"
Reason is,
this increase the inside air volume which act as a damper making real smooth readings. (using antifreeze) Cannot recall where/how/why but oil is no no. But it's related in case of misuse where only one side is connected & whatever in goes to .. you know where.

Been using this for years with my different bikes & now since 2005 with my snwomobile.
