Carb Sync?????

Hello guys going thru the sled this fall to get ready and I wanted to sync the carbs. What is the diffrence between the vacum style gages and the ones with mercruy or fluid. What the easiest way to go about this and what trick or tips do you guys have. I have done a search and read my service manual but I'm still confused as to whats the best way to do this! thanks in advance jdp
