I have an 08 APEX. I am not knowledgable about these things. I am mechanically inclined but only have had an APEX for a year. Owned a Polaris back in the early 80's. I don't even know any of the terms you guys use here. My question is, I want to change out the carbides as darting is an issue. What are good ones? I don't want to change skies, just carbides. I don't care what they cost as long as the darting is gone. Thanks

I just switched to snowtrackers mid season and they are totally worth the money. I came off of duallies and never had darting issues with them, but the sharpness of handling is at least twice as good with the snowtrackers.

Get em from your Yammie dealer.

- 2016 RS Vector XTX 1.25 Lug wifes..2013 RS Vector LTX.. 2003 600 VMax Past Machines 3-2007 Attaks 1-2010 Vector LTX.. sorry no Stinkdoos or poo's cats.
I got the Woody's dually's for my Yami OEM's. Not the slim jims. I love the way they handle. Should of got them years ago. I had the Pilots on and this setup is much better.
I saw the post about Snowtrackers rolling the machines so I passed on them. They look aggressive. I have arthritis in my arms, etc. so no strength to fight them.

6" Woody Doolies, more economical than the Snowtrackers and they work well.

Haven5 run snowtrakers myself because I am still waiting for my bergstoms to wear out. Lots of feedback that snowtrakers are getting comparable mileage to bergstoms with better handling response. Lots of money up front. Will outlast any other carbide by three times. Worth the investment.

I was also a little apprehensive about buying the Snowtrackers after reading that "horror" story... but other TY members assured me that there are is no "dangerous" behavior involved with their usage. I can say that after 2000 miles this winter riding in every imaginable condition, there is absolutely nothing dangerous about them. They make the sled safer because it actually responds when you by going where it should when you turn the handlebars. Some have said the steering is actually lighter with the Snowtrackers... I didn't notice a significant change coming from the Doolies. Snowtrackers or Doolies would both be a great choice to eliminate the darting. Snowtrackers will give you sharper handling with much less pushing in the corners compared to the Doolies (in my opinion of course).

I would agree with what is said above.
Phazer has Dooley's on stock skis, works great.
Apex XTX has Studboy Deuce bars on stock skis, works great.
Apex GT has Simmons duel runner skis with Bergstrom Triple points, works great.
The lowest cost for carbide only seems to be the Deuce bars or Dooley's with Snowtrackers following that in cost. They are great options if you don't plan on swapping the skis.
Lowest cost ski swap is the Yamaha Tuner skis with dual carbides, but my debate is that it was reported to have similar performance to just adding a dual carbide like the Dooley or Deuce. So I went that way.
Your mileage may vary, Good luck!
