Carrillo and Falicon are close in price but the Crowers are about $300 cheaper. You get what you pay for is usually good logic but why are the Crowers so much cheaper. Im not building a 400hp engine....

Do people have preferences?

I looked into both before building a couple of engines. Crower had no stock on the rods and it was a 3 month wait so I went with Corrilla rods and I'm glad I did. The are a quaity piece, purchased from Hurricane with great support - Dave always awnsers my calls no matter what and awnsers all questions - purchase related or not. I was considering the crower over corrilla becuase the corrilla looked huge and I was conserned with the extra wieght. The rods ended up being 8 grams heavier then stock if memory serves, Crower could not give me wieght of theirs.

Consider his pistons designed to work with Yamaha rings too, great combination.

I think if you read through most threads relating to the topic, Carillo rods have been the predominant choice.
I would think however, that if you're not pushing 400hp, and you've got a good engine builder, they'd be able to check any aftermarket set very carefully before using them, and verify that they're right. Any of them would be better than the stock rods, and Crower and Carillo both have been around a long time. I've had good luck with either of them in many auto engines over the years.
