I spoke with them last week. I explained that all I have done with my sled is made the ride stiffer. I added the big boy spring (5.5) and had it re-Valved by Pioneer. I lowered my front Shocks and added the 12MM bar. They (Pioneer) have had my shock 3 times and it leaks after the first ride. They don’t seem to want to fix the leaking issue and won’t send it back to them again.

Carver told me to dump the Big Spring (5.5) and send the shock to them for their Duel Stack Valving… They also stated that I should NOT have any oil on the shaft after a ride

My question is….

Will this work? I am about 185 with no gear. I ride very aggressively and always seem to find that hidden bump… My back is not the greatest anymore. That is the reason for the GT and not an RTX. I want the nice plush ride and still be able to have the sled compensate for that big bump…

Thanks,

carver told me not to go with the big boy and they would revalve the shock for me. (240 lbs,) the ride is a ton better and i am not finding those hidden bumps like you stated.

Yes, Mike Carver said the same to me... I think Carver would no, since he valves all of the Yamaha Race shocks and is referred to by OHLINS.

I had a very good experience Pioneer. Fast turn around (FedXed mid season) on two different shocks and their set-up (valveing & spring) made a huge improvement in both sleds.
I have to check my paperwork but I think they upgraded an oring or adjuster also as part of the service.
Sorry to hear you didnt have the same experience as I did.

I just re-installed both my rear shocks on my RTX, I had the valve stacks put in by Mike Carver. I will know how well it works in a couple of weeks and I will post the results.

I also just had my rear shocks done by carver on my 07 rtx and hopefully will have some good feed back in a couple weeks. I also had them do the duel stage valve stacks. More money but they say its worth it we will find out.

Hey guys new to the site, i have read nothing but great things about carver rebuilds ,I just bought a 07 rtx and was wondering how mutch to do both shocks (duel stage), and the turn around time. thanks

It costed me $266 for both shocks but I also had to replace the shaft on the rear one which was $80 so it would be a little cheaper if you don't need any extra stuff. I have a brand new rear shock for that sled if your interested Asking half of what i paid for it.

I just paid $189.00 which included $20.00 for return shipping.

Yes I did, about 600 miles so far and I love it. The only thing I did do was backed the clicker out for a little softer ride after my trip but I have not had much of a chance to test that yet?

I did not have the sled bottom out once and I was with another rider with a stock 07 RTX who said his did? The conditions in the U.P. were excellent so I guess it was not a real great test but so far so good!

I think the next thing I might do is replace the brick of a seat that's on it with a Apex Gt seat?

i have about 500 miles on my rebuild and I love it also like cobalt said i had to turn my clicker down 4 turns for a softer ride also but no more bucking the sled soaks up the bumps like it should. It still bottoms out. Not terrible but I dont think I will ever get it not to do that the sled is just too damn heavy. Overall night and day difference and I would recommend them to everyone!

yea i did not have good luck with pioneer, they also put in bigger spring and revalved. ok but not what I wanted, i think the only real differnce and less bottoming i had was from the stiffer spring. carver also told me i did not need a stiffer spring if i was properly valved. go with carver, he knows.
