Just let me have a Phazer Mountain Lite with a 100h.p. motor and I'd be one happy dude. I find myself doing the same thing with all my toys.
I had a V-65 Sabre. Of course I hoped it up and frankly it frightened me a time or two. I thought why am I carting all this weight around when 90% of the time I use 10% of its potential. So the V-65 became a BMW F-650. It still does 100 easily but I can take it off the pavement too.
Then it was dirt bikes. I had a Honda XL500 and a XR600. I rode them everywhere. We went on some hiking trails in the Cascades and I about manured myself on some of the switch backs. I thought the same thing as above WHY? So I realistically evaluated what I need in a dirt bike and bought something I can actually touch the ground on when the ground isn't exactly level. So, I bought a Yamaha TTR225 (of course I modify that and the BMW).
Light weight and simplicity are very valued attributes to me.

I rode one in the mountains last spring. I was even thinking about getting one because I liked the idea of lighter weight, untill I rode it. It performed well, but didn't exactly knock my socks off. My biggest problem with it, is it just didn't "feel right" to me. I hated the foot wells, I kept stubbing my toe's on the panel in front of the well.
I figure it would be cheaper for me to light'n up the Viper and have a sled that I know I like to ride. Than take a bath on trade in, and have a sled that I may or may not like at the end of the season.

Mnt.Viper, that's good to know. There is something about the way you fit on Yamaha. I wouldride my buddys Polaris and it felt so long and low (not right at all). I rode a REV 800 Summit last season and I could tell right away that it wasn't for me.
Riding in Washington also I couldn't agree more with your bye line (or tag line). If it doesn't rain and nothing gets broken it's a good ride.

Frostbite, havn't been on a Rev yet. No one I ride with has one. Not sure I would like it though, since thats kind of how the M7 is set up. May'be I'm getting old and set in my ways! Yamaha's just feel "right" to me.
In the 40's and raining here. So the good stuff is coming down in the Cascade's! Just in time for the long week end!
