Caution Delaminating Wheels may Cause Track Damage

By back wheels, do you mean those on the rear axle? If so, then a difference is the studs are not loaded when they go around the rear wheels. Along the rails I would expect idlers take a hit as they attempt drive the stud into the ice or ground below.

I've run many sleds, F7's Apex, Attak, XTX. All with studs hitting the wheels with no issues....they would only fail when they where OVERheated and there no question I over heating them. We still have an SRX with 144studs hitting almost all the wheels including the outside wheels and non failed, this is after 9000km...but with a 2strock we woulnt dare run 30miles non stop at WOT....I'm hard on Wheels and Tracks and its always from the heat and nothing else....

Hmm, I am not convinced about the design of that rear
suspension. The distance from the shock absorber to the track is obviously very small. In my opinion, even if you are running without idler wheels and with worn out sliders, the suspension components are not allowed to tou
ch the
track...! Obviously not Yamahas opinion...

Maybe we should add the plastic half moon wear pads that the Apex has near the top of the mono shock to protect the track???

As for pulling up the limiter strap on these Nytros, has anyone done any testing? These Nytros are totally different than the other Yami chassis. If you pull the rear of the suspension down and the front down(front suspension) then pulling the front strap down will give you better mph, but by just pulling or shortening the front strap will slow these sleds down. Looks like you may be able to use the track rub fix someone (I think Ulmer makes one) made up for the mono's. Not sure if there's enough room there but I'd suspect there is.

There's an idea....maybe Ulmer should see this thread...I'd be a buyer!

IMO, you want to fix this issue? Put DOO wheels on in everyplace where the small ones are and your done... I think, I going to do it, since I'm not going to go thrpough the same BS, I did with my Apex.

What are the Doo wheels going to do??? When they fail its still going to hit my shock...Slidder wear not a problem in the front IMO bigger wheels are not going to change a thing

They last way longer, then the Yamaha's. My buddy has 8000km on his idlers... Ask Ulmer what he has on his XTX.

bringing this back around..any updated info will help others...like me!

I agree on this one.
Maybe Yamaha gets more travel by getting the shock mount closer to the track?
Something that linkage math couldn't accomplish?
